Virtual Summer Intensive
Instructional Roles

All Star Code is hiring instructional and program staff for the 2026 Virtual Summer Intensive. Four roles are open: Lead Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Teaching Fellow, and Summer Intensive Coordinator. All positions are full-time and seasonal. Professional Development Week precedes the six-week program.

Instructional Lead

Lead Instructor

$30/hr
Full-time, seasonal
Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of ASC's technical curriculum across both student cohorts
  • Manage a 3-person instructional team: one Teaching Assistant and one Teaching Fellow
  • Design lesson plans and submit them to the Curriculum Team before each instructional day
  • Administer technical assessments and weekly student surveys
  • Lead Student Orientation and Demo Day in partnership with the instructional team and HQ
  • Serve as primary liaison between the instructional team and ASC HQ
  • Partner with the Summer Intensive Coordinator on Core Skills Curriculum delivery and behavior escalation
Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Computer Science, a related STEM field, or Education; equivalent work experience and technical proficiency accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in at least 10 of the following: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Command Line, Website Development, OOP, Responsive Websites, Front-end Development, Back-end Development, DOM, Event Handlers, TDD, APIs, Asynchronous Programming, Git/GitHub, Databases
  • Ability to engage corporate partners, funders, press, parents, and community stakeholders
  • Experience with or interest in virtual learning tools
  • Coachable, organized, and models a growth mindset
Instructional Support

Teaching Assistant

$18/hr
Full-time, seasonal
Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Instructor across two cohorts of 25+ students
  • Deliver ASC's technical curriculum independently at least once per week
  • Serve as substitute for Lead Instructor when necessary
  • Lead Office Hours (4-5pm daily) and work one-on-one with students
  • Lead daily team-building activities for both cohorts
  • Grade and document student milestones against curriculum rubrics
  • Resolve technical issues related to student hardware and software
  • Track qualitative data and share with HQ
Qualifications
  • Two or more college-level Computer Science courses, a related STEM field, or equivalent work experience and technical proficiency
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in at least 7 of the following: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Command Line, Website Development, OOP, Responsive Websites, Front-end Development, Back-end Development, DOM, Event Handlers, TDD, APIs, Asynchronous Programming, Git/GitHub, Databases
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Scholars Only

Teaching Fellow

$17/hr
Full-time, seasonal
Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Instructor in classroom activity design and delivery
  • Model ASC culture: Dare Greatly. Celebrate Failure. Tell Your Story.
  • Check for student understanding and assist with debugging
  • Lead daily team-building activities for both cohorts
  • Lead Office Hours (4-5pm daily) and work one-on-one with students
  • Track daily attendance for both cohorts
  • Post technical recordings to Google Drive
  • Assist the Teaching Assistant with weekly reporting requirements
Qualifications
  • Must be an All Star Code Scholar. If you have not completed the Summer Intensive, do not apply
  • Proficiency in at least 5 of the following: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Command Line, Website Development, OOP, Responsive Websites, Front-end Development, Back-end Development, DOM, Event Handlers, TDD, APIs, Asynchronous Programming, Git/GitHub, Databases
  • Preferred: two or more college-level CS courses, active GitHub, participation in after-school or online programs, or demonstrated teaching experience
  • Coachable and models a growth mindset
This role is exclusively for All Star Code Scholars. Scholars who completed the Summer Intensive return as Teaching Fellows to mentor the next cohort. This is the near-peer cycle that defines the pipeline. If you have not completed the Summer Intensive, do not apply.
Program Operations

Summer Intensive Coordinator

$18/hr
Full-time, seasonal
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the operations lead for four Summer Intensive cohorts — approximately 150 students total
  • Create and deliver weekly lessons using ASC's Core Skills curriculum: networking, career mapping, and entrepreneurship
  • Manage student data across all four cohorts, including attendance, schedules, attrition, survey distribution, and performance evaluations
  • Draft and distribute the weekly student newsletter, The Code of the Week
  • Facilitate Orientation and Demo Day planning and delivery in partnership with the instructional team
  • Coordinate volunteer engagement and maintain relationships with corporate partner liaisons
  • Communicate with instructional teams, parents, and corporate partners throughout the program
  • Surface and document student stories and session screenshots for development and marketing use
Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Communications, Liberal Arts, or Education; equivalent work experience accepted
  • Professional experience in teaching and project management
  • Professional working proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides) and Zoom
  • Basic knowledge of data management and Learning Management Systems
  • Ability to engage corporate partners, funders, press, parents, and community stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; dependable and organized under a full program schedule
  • Coachable and models a growth mindset
What all roles require
Professional Development Week
June 22 – 26, 2026

Up to 40 hours of instructional preparation before the program begins. All roles are compensated for Professional Development Week. The evening of June 25 is included for Student Orientation.

Mission alignment

Shared grounding in ASC's vision, core pillars, and what it means to model them in a classroom.

Instructional preparation

40 hours of curriculum work, pedagogical tools, and confidence-building in Computer Science delivery.

Program delivery

Full walkthrough of Summer Intensive components so every member of the instructional team can deliver a consistent experience.

Team and community

Staff come in as colleagues and leave as a team. Best practices are shared openly before the first student cohort arrives.

Summer Intensive Program
July 6 – August 14, 2026

Up to 40 hours per week, 9am to 5pm daily. Virtual, six weeks, two student cohorts. Students build toward a minimally viable product presented at Demo Day. Technical instruction runs in parallel with a Core Skills track covering professional identity, networking, and entrepreneurship.

Scheduling conflicts: If you have school or other obligations during these dates, you must disclose them before being hired. Conflicts identified after hiring may affect your placement. Note: The Summer Intensive Coordinator role runs up to 35 hours per week; all instructional roles run up to 40 hours per week. All roles are required for Demo Day on August 13, 2026.
